So lets assume the Vulcan flies in 2009 ... if they cant get a sponsor in reccessionary times.. doesnt that make a mockery of their future plans ahead for such a money hungry fuel eating jet bomber?

So they get $1m Gbp in.. so after that is spent on cleaning their debts off... what will they then do to actually fly the plane year in and out.???


If im right doesnt all of the UK actually own her as she was funded by the HLF?

So it should come to a public debate on her future, not some " ah giv' us a $1m a month til we go broke" attitude.

I do admit there is alot of scare mongering on the vulcan webpage which isnt very well made for such a plea....

Maybe next time childish threats of "she going unless you pay".. could be replaced with "unless future public donors are sought she is grounded"..

Yes there will be future funding problems , and with the current financial meltdown we are all facing this makes for more finacial problems for the Vulcan , and to be honest i doubt the fianacial meltdown wont affect a few more warbirds , so what do you say to the Vulcan crew and anyone else for that matter ....the Pink Lady ..Sally B they are all looking for funds , so what is your answer? tell em to sod off ?
You say she is funded by the HLF , well yes she was to the tune of 2.7 mill , they had to get 7 mill to get her flyimg so the lottery fund wasnt that big a part .As for the ''childish threats '' unless they found the money they have , the vulcan would be grounded pure and simple .
So like i said less of the aggro , i posted as i thought most people would be glad to hear that the Vulcan is safe for now ,as i said she is a warbird and she is worthy of the money put into keeping her in that air .

She isnt safe- all they have are donations and pledges not cash and in hand - big difference - people will still have to decide can they donate.

Many people may of donated just to see the $1m level reached...
A false lining maybe affect?

I am merely highlighting the size of the project is not workable long term. $1-4m a year is asking ALOT for something that needs MAJOR sponsors and which it wont get in current recessionary times. So thay cant fly that means effectively and need to be grounded...

There is a MASSIVE difference between a B-17 or a P-51 Mustang and a heavy maintence 1950s jet bomber with 4 fuel hungry engines.

Havent you noticed that?

Those warbird like Sally B and Pink lady ----- as i recall lately have only insurance isssues mainy in Europe to deal with.. they have enough funding and supporters. They dont demand massive ongoing funding each year that the Vulcan does... that the key difference. .. these warbird are afforfdable in the sense.

If you think i am the only person wondering that the Vulcan is " a bridge too " project.. your wrong.. as pointed out $15m is a awful lot of money for 1 warbird.

It has set a precident and unless someone cranks out a B-47 it wont be met anytime soon.
