This is a good reminder for folks to have the Serial #s for important (read expensive) things written down, or photographed, and a copy of the list stored off site in case of fire flood, tornado or volcano. After the fact is a big headache! Makes recovery possible if found and insurance claims much easier to fill out. Our local PD has an auction periodically for recovered property, make sure you check with your PD if they do this

Yeah, that really sucks. We got robbed last year for about $3K worth of stuff. A couple of cameras and a plasma TV were stolen. My wife was really PO'd that they stole a couple of her good purses. Probably high school kids with nothing to do during the summer.

I contacted the camera manufacturers to file a report with them so if they ever get contacted regarding those serial numbers they can call the police. I don't care as much about the stuff (and the $3 cash they got) as I do the violation of my personal space and the look of confusion on my 2 year old's face when he asked, "What happened?"

P.S. The gun safe was a huge deterrent I think.

no insurance?

The thing I miss most is the feeling of security, and my Great Grandfather's Masonic ring. Things you can't just go out and buy! Hang in there Nathan, and make sure you've found everything that's missing before filing your insurance as they will probably reject "add-ons" to the claim once it is filed!

A friend of mine got hit a Christmas. The creep cleaned him out...even took the presents from under the tree. He was nice enough to let the dog out...

wow whats up with being robbed during Christmas? :? A few years ago my uncle got back home from Christmas dinner only to find his guns, army metals, etc stolen. Never did find how who did it. I am surprised at how many wix'ers have been robbed. This is not good and I now feel all your pain.

jet1...na man I really appreciate the offer but I cant do that. :) We just gotta wait and see perhaps my camera will show up sometime.

cheers,
Nathan

When my wife and I were newlywed college students, we came home to our crackerbox of a house from church to find the back door open and our bedroom ransacked. My wife had her purse and leather jacket stolen, and the scumsucker took my custom-built .300 Mag w/ a left handed Sako action and a 4x14 Leupold on it. We sort of figured it was our landlord's dirtbag brother, as there was no sign of forced entry.

Sorry to hear about your loss, and I really hope you are able to recover your stuff.

Fortunately, I live in Montana now, next door to a cop.

You guys all know that I got robbed about a year ago. They got me for a Nikon D50, and my GpS along with all of my clothes.

Sorry to hear that, Nathan, not good.

When I was a kid I lived in New Orleans in a two story antebellum mansion--the same one I spent the last few years rebuilding after Katrina... I was taking a shower upstairs one afternoon when I heard glass tinkle downstairs. I was climbing out anyway, so I leaned out the door and saw an arm reaching in the window at the bottom of the stairs. I walked into my bedroom and grabbed my shotgun from the corner and leaned out my bedroom door just in time to see the arm reach back into the window, this time with a screwdriver in its hand. So I shot it.

The guy shrieked like a little girl, fell out the window, and disappeared. I ran down the steps buck assed naked and stuck my head out another side window in time to see him boogying up the street towards St Charles. So I grabbed my Mamaw's trench coat off the hat rack by the door, yanked it on, and proceeded up Soniat towards St Charles (the street where the streetcars run.

I got into the streetcar track where I could run good (it's grass between the tracks there)and I must have gone five or six blocks before the NOPD picked me up and asked me why I was running around in broad daylight with my trenchcoat flapping and waving a shotgun. They wer actually sort of nice about it. I guess they figured discretion was the better part of valor, considering the scene I must have made.

Anyway, they made me get in the car, and drove a couple more blocks, and pulled up next to the guy as he ran in the streetcar tracks. We drove along next to him for a while, and finally the driver leaned out the door and asked him how long he was planning on running before he bled to death. They finally stopped him and cuffed him (and me after I told him he was lucky they stopped me) All four of us drove to the little police station, and they booked both of us. Him for B&E and me for lewd conduct.

I was not a normal teen. :P

It's the only time I have ever had someone try to break into my home. He was lucky my gun was loaded with birdshot. I keep buck in it now, on the theory that I am old and can't run that fast any more.

Give me an effffffing break!!!

Someone is having a hard time, and the best thing you can do, is nitpick?

I could ask the same thing: What does YOUR post have to do with aviation?

Go ahead Nathan, if it helps you deal with your situation post away!

This is why, I believe you posted this in the OFF TOPIC DISCUSSION!

Sheeezzzz!!!
