Stinson L-1, 40-255 , as fitted with a Dow Chemical built wing for boundary layer research. Originally an O-49 before the designation was changed in 1942. The hump housed a blower that drew in air from the wing induction slot.

OK....help me here.

Was this suppose to increase lift ? Draw from under the wing & increase the top/bottom pressure differential ?

Not sure about the added thrust / weight increase ratio however :lol:

I bet if they did much testing with it the landing gear had to go. That was the weak link in the L-1 anyway, but with all that crap.............?
