WAHOO...That'll be a big mahalo. That would have been while they were still in P-38s as they didn't transition to P-51s until Sept. '44.
I understand that it's gun camera footage, but is that the highest resolution there is of that picture?

Mudge the smiling :D

He rammed it? Would love to hear the story behind that and how he made it back to base.

Here's a depiction of one of his "rammings". Artist is Keith Hill. I happen to have this one on my "Jack Ilfrey wall". I also have a very nice sketch, by one of the artists in our merry band, of the same encounter.

Actually "ramming" is kinda' misleading. Ramming connotes a violent collision. Jack just kinda' "sliced and diced".

That had to be a rough ride home, Thanks for the image Mudge it kind of brings it to life.
Wasn't it the Russians that used their props a saw of sorts to bring down enemy planes as well?

What many folks don't realize is but according to Jack the a/c wasn't named HJGB until sometime after this mission. I'm not really sure when it was added has you can see here Jack's taxing out on DDay and there's no name or anything on the nose.
