Guys, I made a trip to Socorro NM last October, in order to check on the rumor of airframes left there.

Nothing, nothing at all, left. The airport is empty of any warbirds, while at the NM School of Mines, I was told that they used the airframes for explosive testing.

I am again in NM, so if you have a specific trail to follow regarding these aircraft, let me know and I will take a trip to check them out.

Saludos,

Tulio

Hi Tulio,

Assuming the latest satellite image is representative of now, it looks like this site is cleared out...
ImageAerial Visuals - Location Dossier - New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology - Blue Canyon Storage Site

However, this site may still have some "stuff"...
ImageAerial Visuals - Location Dossier - New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology - Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center

Or have both locations been cleared of airframes used in explosive testing?

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Possibly. Are you referring to the one in the still from the movie Gas-s-s-s that I posted before?
