Looks like the answer for a lot of gate guards and outside stick displays, not just for the Mustang but any number of aircraft.

Cool! I would prefer these being out in the elements or just "hanging around" than real warbirds! It would be cool to have a P-40 hanging at our local airport, St Pete/Clearwater, where they trained in P-40 during the war, as a tribute to those airmen. Currently, I believe there is just a little plaque, not much of a tribute.

Paged through the website, cool shot of a guy walking through a crowd of 9' high Hulks...pretty funny! A bit surreal!

I think that these are being built for the new Tuskegee Airmen movie being made by Lucas. I could be wrong. Kel

Looks VERY good to me, but then I'm predjudiced.

It is my understanding that the above model will be used to tour schools to educate about "Red Tails".

Perhaps a bit of a "formation" photo op could be arranged?

They should do several Memphis Belles. The two we have are not enough. There could be one in Dayton, one in Memphis, one in DC, a couple out west. Even the UK could have one. We need more Flak Baits, too.

The UK already have a Memphis Belle. Sally B currently flys in Memphis Belle colours

...from a slow death in outside (or inside) display is good....airplanes are meant to be flown not to sit around and rot away

Unless they ahve re-painted it since I saw it in May '99, it is in Sally B "colors" (or colours in the UK) with Sally B nose art on the port (left) side of teh nose and Memphis Belle nose art on the starboard (right) side of the nose.

Unless, of course, Memphis Belle had that yellow & black checkered cowl on its #3 engine...as a tribute to the late Ted White, the fellow who started B17 Preservation Ltd. and flew it back from Creil, Fance in March 1975.

It did appear in the "modern" remake of Memphis Belle, the movie, as several a/c including the final shots as Memphis Belle with the smoking engine.

But, it really ain't painted as Memphis Belle.

I am looking at acquiring a Mustang cockpit for display at airshows along with my gear, might be a long term project if workable.

It must be fun to walk around a museum with you. I can see you in the medieval section. "Look at those suits of armor and swords sitting there rotting away. Those were meant to be fighting and jousting. Get them out on the field and start banging away at them. Anything that can be jousted, should be."

if we would fight all battles man to man with swords and televise the show, war as we know it would cease to exist. Imagine a couple of guys in a field hacking and chopping each other to bits!

I guess you don't count the "DF-A" buzz letters or the "124485" serial on the tail as part of the "Belle" paint scheme, eh?

The paint scheme is actually more like 80% "Memphis Belle" with a checkerboard #3 cowl and different noseart on the left side.

...and now for something completely different.
