I like the satin finish after sanding! I personally prefer it to a glossy finish.

Where'd they put that great BIG decal on the P-40N? :hide: :hide: :hide: :pirate

Here's where it was, don't know if thats where it will go back but I would think that if they liked it there before it will go back in the same place.

All I can say is for the last ten years I have been involved in the maintenance and annual inspection's and it has always been a flat paint scheme. Don't know how they made the aileron shiny(water maybe?)
You can ask Gary Austin about the paint.
I'd say for being 20 + year old paint and the fact that it was painted outside!, its held up pretty well
Ask the guys doin the sanding why the ailerons shiny :!:

The pictures I posted were after sanding was completed in the hangar. The airplane was pulled outside for a bath to get rid of the residue. That is where the shiny came from.

Ok, new question. We are looking for original pictures of when SB2C's were in service in the CAF's current markings. The crew is trying to make the new paint and markings more orginal. Any pix would be appreciated.

John,
I have every book known to man on HellDivers. Can you be more specific on what you want and I'll dig into the archives. Do you want ship markings, squadron, year time frame etc etc...
Would love to help!
PM me if you want to talk via phone, probably best.

Agreed! It ain't true without a pic or two

Seeing a post from Retroaviation makes me really miss Gary. He is such a big part of this place. Always will be. Don't mean to derail the thread, I just couldn't help but make that comment.
