Expansion of the U.S. Air Force Museum,....the 1st Time

Here is the footage (referenced in the Soplata B-36 thread) of the Air Force Museum's collection when they moved to their present location in 1970. The Museum re-openned in 1971.

An impressive move, must have been some nail biting.

That's just too cool!

Some of that appears to have been shot from the hilltop where the Wright Brothers Memorial is located. My wife and I always have a picnic up there when we visit the museum.

yep same place.

What I just noticed is they removed Bockscar's outboard main landing gear wheels.

I'm assuming for curb clearence.

It is at Hill AFB now.
