Any Ottawa warbirders going to be around Feb 21st

I was heading up to skate the Rideau and see the Nat Museum of Aviation again, and Eric Dumigan informed me of a fly-over event that day. Anyone going or have further information?

I have heard just a few bits and pieces of a flypast of Vintage and Canadian Forces Aircraft over Rideau Canal but I have yet to find any details on the net yet.

Greetings , here is the list of aircraft to participate in the Centennial Wing over Ottawa that we have gathered so far for the 21st of February.

Can Air Forces: CT-114 Tutor , CC-144 Challenger, CF-18 Hornet, NavCan Regional Jet, Bombardier Regional Jet, 2 CJ-6 Nanchang, 2 Antanov AN-2, 3 Globe Swift, L-17 Navion, Beech Sierra, Sopata TBM-700, Piper Comanche, Bellanca Cruisair, Seabee, Christen Eagle, Wirraway, C-45, Cessna 421b, Piper PA-18, Aeronca Champ, Cessna 140, Taylorcraft BC-12, , Piper PA-22, RV-7A, Diamond DA-20, Diamond DA-40 and aircraft from Vintage Wings of Cnada to be confirmed.

Plus awaiting confirmation from Bombardier Dash 8 Q-400, RCMP aircraft and a few other owners.

The flight will over Dows Lake, Rideau Canal and Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau from 13:00 to 14:00. In case of bad weather is it re-schedule for the 22nd of February.

Parking can be brutual during winterlude at the best of times.

Parking is bad. Park at the Park&Ride in Kanata. Take the bus downtown. Get off at DND. Walk down the stairs to the cannel. Put on your skates and skate south to Dows Lake. Ta da!

Sorry. I really don't have any better suggestions. As for the best location to view... I have NO IDEA. I have heard very little about this. I doubt I will attend.

Skating does like an interesting way to attend....but me thinks that my skating skills are a bit rusty and I will most likely end up on my butt with a busted lens....

Actually I don't think so. Sleds for towing kids are OK.

Was at Vintage Wings this morning the focus was the launch of Hawk1 to Baddeck for the Centennial events. Mike Potter flew his Mustang in the canal event. Since it was the only aircraft we had to launch figured it would be a slow day for us. Suddenly Rockcliffe was closed down becaus of a problem and the circuit at Gatineau got real interesting. We had two AN 2s come in a number GA stuff Seabee, Swifts etc from the fly over. Then we were entertained by a number of passes by the CF 18 it suddenly turned into one of those magical days only aviation can provide!

The pilot of this AN 2 had recently returned from the North Pole with his aircraft.

I watched the event from Dow's Lake. The 3 Hornet flyover was very nice and the An2's looked right at home over the lake. Most of the flyover's were pretty high so any pictures I took tend to be mostly the underside of the aircraft.

Yeh they were limited to 1000 ft because it was over the city.

I figured a minimum altitude was in place for the aircraft taking part.

It would be quite the sight to see a 3 ship tight formation flyover of the two RJ's and the CAF Challenger

Mike Potter told us that the Tutor got lost and couldn't find Dows lake so those formed up on him were off the target .

I was supposed to follow the Tutor and the Mustang as Lead of the second element, but I ended up being the Lead for the whole thing. At one point I had a Tutor flying as my #3. I was in the TBM 700.
