Warbird Information Exchange

It is infact Roi and Namur Islands. As I've learned just recently, the Navy and Marines in an effort to employ the lessons learned at Tarawa, they pummeled the Island/s unrelentingly before going ashore. The devastation was immense. It's neat though to look at the WW2 pictures of buildings and structures and compare them to what they look like today. Quite a differnce. The island/s itself looks very much like vacation today but 65 yeas ago was a different story.

IIRC, Roi-Namur had 3 runways that formed a roughly-shaped triangle. This is from memory of a map I'd seen and hope I have the correct one here.

Another project to through on the list would be to take the pictures and decent map and locate roughlt each picture's position on the Islands. By the looks of the them he walked all over both islands.
