Ahh! Thanks, saw the formation over Pasadena heading in the general direction of Ellington, but they
were just a bit far for me to make out what they were.

I saw the WB-57 idling by a few minutes ago. AH-64's and T-38's all the time.

Rick, how close are ya'll to flight tests on the F-4? I like the "coke bottle whistle" sound she makes as she's
winding down on final. 8)

oopsie!

Today I saw;
UH-1E :D
T-38
WB-57
F-16
MH-47
T-45

Canso we had to send the engine back to California a while back. We still had an oil vapor coming out of the rear turbine frame. While not a leak, GE says NO oil from that location is allowed. Having said that, the engine is being reassembled as we speak and I was told that we should be ready for test cell runs next week. If she passes we'll get it back and installed ASAP. Everything else is ready to fly.

HMFischer wrote:Last fall I was working on a construction site about 4 miles South West of the NE-SW runway of Mpls/St Paul International and I heard a very differant sounding large jet. I looked up and I saw a large plane with 4 engines, two on each side of the fuselage one directly outboard of the other. And a few minutes later there was a second one that went over. Each had just taken off and were heading SW. When I got home and did some reseaching on the "net", the only two planes I could find with that configuation were the British VC-10 and the Russian IL-62. From what I read, none of the VC-10 operating anymore, so they must have been IL-62's. What would they be doing in Minnesota and why two of them??? Hugh

Didn't North American build a Sabreliner type jet with four engines arranged as described by HMFischer? Or am I just dreaming again?

The planes I saw were much larger than that. I would say larger than a 727 but smaller that 747. That is the correct configuration though. They were a solid light bluish green and I did not see any markings. Thank you, Hugh

Rick, I'm certain you have us all beat with that WB-57.

Oh, several C-5s, a KC-135, some airliners, the usual Cessna singles and twins, a Metro, RV-4... Of course working at an airport some of those are quite regular.

Gotta agree with you on that one too

MIG-21 through my moonroof while sitting in the drive-through waiting for my food.

Made my day, and after going to the airport to see it on the ground my food is now cold.

Bright Yellow Super Cub....is that a warbird? Well, at least vintage! (sure ain't no Mig21!!)

As I was reading this thread a round engine rumbling sent me scurrying out the door to see. It was a Tora Zero, moseying towards Clover I'm guessing. Living between H'ston and G'ston, there's always something interesting buzzing around. Life is sweet! :D

Seen a Dash 8 and a twin engine Baron with wing tip tanks.
