This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Kevin Walsh and Michael Luther have reported elsewhere that the plan is to keep the photo pit, etc. on the traditional side of the field - not where it was in 2007 when the Blue Angels were last there.

As for the traffic jams, do what I did in 2007 - LEAVE the show before the Blue Angels perform. Let the casual air show fans fight the traffic jams.

Or stay an hour and 30 minutes after they land, and drive right out. Stop at Applebees and harass some Canadian friends. I do it all the time. :)

YES :!: And the "pit pass"

(That's a change, huh?)

Chris the skeptical

The show will take place in the same location as last year, as we designed 08s layout to work with a jet team in the future.

Both reenactment's will still take place.

What scheme did Brent paint his in? Is Neal's airplane flying yet?

The new paint scheme for Brent's plane is white / light gray and has a white and blue checker board on the cowl.

I'm not sure if Neal's plane has flown yet, but he said he should be flying by our show.

We will be using the same parking area as we did in 08. (with extra parking space) This layout offers more separation of traffic flow in and out over the 07 layout.

That close to Geneseo might be very hard to swing. But if the lineup keeps going the way it is I might have to go!

Maybe it will be a nice time to ditch my current dead end job and take a few weeks off before starting something new.

Michael Luther, whose B-25 and Corsair?

Thu Feb 05, 2009 9:37 pm

What's the drive time between Geneseo and Thunder?

Thu Feb 05, 2009 9:37 pm

I think the Corsair is Vintage Wings of Canada and the B-25 is probably Yankee Warrior.

I'd put it at about 6 hours w/ cutting across Canada.

Correct

Do not forget to add two border crossings (if cutting thru Onario) onto your drive time Roger. Depending on the day of the week, the time of day and who knows what else can go wrong, I have been stuck trying to get into either country for hours at the border.

For any Americans who are planning to do Geneseo and then drive to TOM, if your travel plans include cutting across southern Ontario ( it will shave hours off of your drive time ) remember to bring your passport in order to be allowed back into the USA by US Customs.

Cutting thru Ontario would give you the opportunity to stop in at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton.

As an option you could take the long way aound Lake Erie, New York State, Ohio and then into Michigan.

Cheers,

Jeff :D

Off hand I think I'd be looking at 8 hours, which really is not bad.

Hmmmm, thinking this over I think this really could work  Genny one weekend, the week with family and then TOM the next weekend while heading home.

Thanks for the input guys, now I'll need to see if the car rental company will allow a one way without charging me a ridiculous price. When I got stuck for 24 hours in Chicago last time and tried to rent my car one way from one airport to another, the price quadrupled
