In the 1945-46 edition of "Jane's All The World's Aircraft", there is an advertisement for Helliwells, Ltd, in Stratford-on-Avon, a designer of aircraft and aircraft components, which has a photo of a nude female (from the waist up) in the center of the ad, surrounded by pictures of all sorts of machinery.

Interesting. I didn't get the connection, if any.

I remember seeing a flying safety poster in an RAF pilot ready room of the rear view of a blond wearing a very short tennis skirt, walking away from you with no undies. The caption was something about making sure you use your checklist. This was back in the early 80s.

It was something Helliwell's did. Funnily enough, they were quite 'memorable' as a result. ;) That's the 'connection' just like the 'Pirelli calendar girls'. Sex(y bodies) sells.

Sounds like an adaptation of the (in)famous Athena poster.
