Found this picture in my collection. Shows a row of P-38s, a B-25 and what appears to be a BT-13. What caught my eye was the P-38 with "162" on the nose. Wondered if that was "23 Skidoo." I dont have any idea where the picture was taken but wanted to share my find.

1st P-38 is from the 432nd FS 475th FG.
could be Amberly Field or more likely New Guinea.

Not enough trees and not flat enough to be Amberly...

Were BT-13s used outside the US? In forward areas? It looks like a combat zone. Maybe?

The way that code/number is painted on the nose give you the clue to what FS and FG, Jack?
If I was going to guess I was going to say New Guinea. There is another group of Lightning pictures. One has run off the runway in the tall grass so that made me think of NG.

Dan, I wouldn't mind seeing the tractor too, so see what it is.

OK... here is the close up. So ya'll can check out the 38s, the BT-13 AND the tractor!
Dont think I have seen pics of a BT-13 on a US base outside of the US... so it could be a T-6... even with my good eyes I cant quite be sure.

Love the picture of the P-38 in the weeds with the shadow of the photographer's camera. He sure wasn't totin' no Brownie.

Ober, the last one is like what happen today? What is his N# as I forgot to look. When I turned base to final @ KLNC, the wind pushed me backwards towards IH45....

In the book "Pacific Aircraft Wrecks..." by Charles Darby he mentions a BT-13 at Nadzab (pg. 80). Even more remarkable (!) is that on pg 51 of the publication "Golden Wings 1941-45" by J. Sullivan there is a photo of at least one Grumman FF-2 on Guadalcanal in March of 1945. The FF is marked with 1944 style US insignia.
