The hue and cry over these flights finally reached the pilot and he agreed to stop with the "public" demonstrations. I agreed that this was only right. I later learned that the pilot was the actor Cliff Robertson.
Cliff should've asked them if they were nazi's because they believe in censorship of history, and told them unlike their home in the Soviet Union, free speech and expression is allowed in the U.S.

The people that don't get that it's a historical interest and just go to instant outrage are the type of people that cause wars. They don't have an informed opinion, they just like to have something to be mad about.
That's exactly right, it's called selective moral outrage. They do outrageous things themselves probably 10x worse, and then get outraged at something minor and actually historically correct.

Some people just don't get it. And nazism and swatikas can't be swept under the rug and hidden like they don't exist. IMHO we need to keep a remembrance of garbage like that to try to prevent it from happening again.
There, I've offically ranted.
You shouldn't have to apologize for it. You can put swastika's on a historic airplane, and you're allowed to do it under the constitution. The best thing to do is to think of something whitty to say to put them to shame, like the example the other wixer cited about his friend's business.

I remember a T6 at a Santa Maria CA airshow several years ago that had to tape up and hide the swastika on it's tail because there was a boyscout troup that was hanging out at the show. ????
He should have said "make me do it".
Overall, put on your Axle Foley hat when you run into these kind of Folks.
