I got this photo off ebay the other day. Shows a flight of A-29 Hudson bombers. :D

Enjoy,
Nathan

Not to be nit-picky, but those appear to be B-34 Venturas (or whatever the USAAF called the Ventura.)

Nice pic, though..pretty smooth formation work. Thanks for posting! I'd love to see a Ventura in the air. I think the classic elipitcal Lockheed tails are much better looking than the PV-2 barn door verticals.

Yep, B-34s. The scoops under the nacelles and the hump in after ventral fuselage forward of the horizontal stabilizer give it away.
A photograph of the same aircraft at about the same angle but from a little farther away can be found on page 308 of
THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF AIRCRAFT OF WORLD WAR II
(Aerospace Publishing LTD 2004).

Some Lockheed-Vega B-34 airplanes are referred to as:

R-Model 37
R-37
RM-37
B-37

These designations refer to an AAF version of the Ventura II Model 37-27-01 (an RAF export version of the B-34). These aircraft were modified to AAF standards and equipped with Pratt & Whitney R-2800-31 engines. All of the R-37 types used by the USAAF had RAF ID designators (ie: AJ-183).

Thanks for the info!

I knew the main difference between the B-34 and B-37 was the engines (one had R-2800s and the other R-2600s) but couldn't remember which was which.

Here is another post with those B-34 airplanes. On second look,

It appears that the original photo that appeared in this post is gone.
