Is there any particular reason for this thread to have a sticky keeping it at the top of the forum?

I mean, it's interesting and everything, but does it have to stay at the top of the page for another six months?

Cheers,

Brett

Any word on when the Corsair DVDs will be sent out?

I really need my Cosair fix  I can't wait to get mine.

Any updates on which Cosairs will be there? I can figure out all but One. Any hints or final lists comeing out?

I'm there...my grandfather Blaine Morris used to work at this plant, and I would be remiss as a Corsair aficianado if I did'nt go and see where he spent a good portion of his life working for Vought and producing artwork...looking forward to it immensely and this time I don't have to wait two years like I did for the Gathering, this one is only 5 months away!

By the way, I'm new, thought I'd come over and check this place out, I'm a regular from the Key Publishing forums...know a lot of folks in here (Rob Rohr for one) and hope to meet more of you.

It seems a bit strange that there is going to be a bunch of FG-1D, what about the F4U-1(A) POF has? I would figure Vought would really want that corsair.

SO is there going to be a mass corsair flight? I just loved seeing 4(kind of 5) flying together, but lets leave the lawn dart (fa-18) out this time.

Had a good talk with Jerry O'Neill about the Corsairs over Connecticut airshow and he told me that, like all good airshows, he has only a limited budget to work with as far as getting planes to the show, and he's doing what he can for Corsairs but will only be able to afford so many.....they were originally only aiming for 6, but it l;ooks like we'll exceed that number by a few if it all holds together...but any more than that will have to be at the owner's cost, because it simply isn't in the budget....and don't look for tons of other aircraft, either, because they're really trying to stick to the theme of the show which is U-birds....

The site has been updated with a schedule for the wekend. Looks like a fun time. I can't wait.

http://www.veteranssalute.org/schedule.htm

the Sad news is that MAAM in Reading PA has a great line-up of A/C and speakers at their WW2 weekend.

Hmmm, Cosairs Saturday, Reading on Sunday? Maybay Corsairs Friday & Saturday. Reading on Sunday.

Mon Mar 21, 2005 9:36 pm

Hey Tim,

We were planning on doing the MAAM show on Friday.
The VW SuperJam at Maple Grove Raceway on Saturday.
and then the Corsair Get together on Sunday.

this way we can still hit all three and be at the closest to home on sunday

Too bad the CAF airplane was damaged over the weekend, hopefully it will be returned to service soon.

I dropped a hint that Kelly & I could go to the PA show on Saturday and them drive up to CT for the Sunday show. I would really like to see the FF’s PBY. The new F8F…

I received a dirty look.

But I have a few months to work on the idea!

I need a little advice

I'm going to come over for this one, I got some ol submarine buddies I'm going to hang with in New London while I'm there. It's been such a long time since I've been out there, My question is, what would be the easiest way into Conn?

SFO to JFK, california to ny, then a hop to New London, or california to boston to conn?

I guess it's travel agent time.....

Rhode Island, I can't remember the Airport at Providence. But it is very easy to get in and out of and the Fairs are descent.

T.F. Green is the airport in Providence.

Dear Sirs,

I am looking for the names and addresses of the present owners of the
following Corsair Aircraft: 122179, 124486,124493,97382,96995,97059 and
96885. I have inquired the FAA records through the Internet but the
information is incomplete. Specifically I am looking for a valid address
on:

John P Silberman the listed owner of BuNo 122719
Mike George the listed owner of BuNo 124486
Graham Hosking the listed owner of 124493
Ray Adams the listed owner of 97382
Lori Crown the listed owner of 97059 & 96885

I know that some of the aircraft have been used to rebuild others but I
am researching a project on the Honduran Corsairs. Please forward any
information on these individuals if you can.

Sincerely,

Richard B. Kern

Hey,
Bridgeport is alot closer to NYC than Providence. But Bradley (BDL) is also a little north of there just above Hartford.

BDL is the major airport for the Hartford/Springfield, MA area.

It may be a good place to fly into.

Hi guys;
I've been reading the post occasionally, but I've been so busy, I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on the message boards.
I thought you'd all like to know that at present, we will have the following WWII Marine Corps Veterans as guests of our event:

Jim Hill, VMF-214
Tom Emrich, VMF-214
Henry Bourgeios, VMF-214
Bob McClurg, VMF-214
Archie Donahue, VMF-112
Dean Caswell, VMF-212
Bernard Petersen, VMF-223
Yogi Irwin, VMF-223

It should be pretty neat, and all of them could barely say yes fast enough!
Thanks to Mint for help in contacting them!

In addition, for you lovers of the bent-winged bird, there will be many factory workers on hand who were all insturmental in making the Corsair what it was. Don Richardson, Flight Test Insturment Division, was on the Corsair from almost day one, and was a key player in the development and testing of almost every modification that went into the Corsair to help make it a better tool for the pilots. He helped create the shape and placement of the famous "stall strip". Real neat guy to talk to.

We've still got eight Corsairs coming. We had nine for about one week, but the CAF's FG-1D had a gear up landing (no injuries thank goodness) so we're back to eight. Jerry Beck's F4U-4 is planning to attend. I know the disscussion has mentioned all the Goodyear birds coming, but here on the Eastcoast, real Vought examples are hard to find. Even the Dash-5's we have coming may all have been built in Dallas! If Beck makes it, at least we're guarenteed one Stratford, CT built airframe!

Also, as a side note, the CT State House of Representatives is now deciding on a bill that would make the Corsair the "Official Airplane of the State of Connecticut". If it happens, May 29th will be forever "Corsair Day" in the state. (Date of first flight was May 29, 1940)

She's sixty-five years old this year, so the Corsair is now an "Official" Senior citizen! I hope you all plan to attend and if anyone lives in CT and would like to be a part of the event as a volunteer, just let me know!
We could always use the help.

I'll try to answer any questions as the come up, but forgive me if it takes a bit...I have a real, paying job besides "Corsairs Over Connecticut"!
Blue skies.

Wow that is a great line up of Corsair pilots. I so can't wait. Is ther going to be some type of time set aside so that we can hear / have pictures signed from the WW2 pilots? I'd love to get some nice signed prints.

Thanks for the info.
