"The A-1 Skyraider in Vietnam : The Spad's Last War" by Wayne Mutza is excellent with many, many photos. It's well worth the price tag!

Also Gold Wings, Blue Sea also by Rosario Rausa who was the editor

The Ravens were a CIA? group that flew recon , and FAC in Cessna 180s and T-28s, some of it was "secret"as it was in places like Laos that the U S was officailly not in. Hey, would Nixon lie? The author, Christopher Robbins, flew with us in the T-34 group for a few years. One story he told, was being interviewed by ABC's Sam Donaldson. Sam asked what they were doing there, who they worked for? The official cover was that they were "Park Service" employees. The Raven guy knew he was lying, and Sam knew he was lying, and each knew the other knew, but that was the story. As for FAC, he said if you called in a jet they'd come through at max warp and be lucky to hit the earth. If you wanted any accuracy you needed a Skyraider or similar. Of course, the slower stuff took some big losses, also.
The best overall Nam book that I know of is THE U S IN VIETNAM, authors are Kahin and Lewis.

Minor correction - not Cessna 180's but O-1/L-19
I had the honor of flying with one of them; RIP Craig 'Raven' Morrison

I may be wrong, but as I recall they had some C180s or 185s. They could have been Birddogs.

The Raven FACs were not part of the CIA; they often shared bases with Air America. They flew O-1s, U-17s which were the military Cessna 185 and T-28s. They are a very interesting bunch of fellows; many of whom I now call my friends.
And no...I will not be baited by the political comments about that war contained herein
