It was a good idea, it just didn't work.

It has been a long time since I saw that aircraft, and they sure have done wonders with it! The quality of the work looks exceptional. I can't wait to see a P-82 flying again, practically right in my backyard even!

I see by those painted spinners they must already have a color scheme in mind. I hope it's not "Betty Jo". That'll cause a whole other NMUSAF debat about name ownership!

It will be a little while before this project flies... they need some significant "parts".

...from the December 2008 EAA Warbirds magazine - pgs 4 + 5, article titled:
"Psst! Can you spare a Propeller or Two for a P-82 Twin Mustang?"
Pat Harker states 'Right now I am looking for both right-hand & left-hand propellers for this project. Unfortunately there is no way to use the standard P-51D Mustang Propellers because the P-82 props are counter-rotating, full-feathering propellers. These propellers resemble those used on the F8F Bearcat or Skyraider, but internally they use different parts."
Elsewhere in the article, Pat ID's them as Aeroproducts ID # AL542.
Also, Pat is looking for the brakes - Goodyear 32x8.8 wheel with 3 pucks in the rotor..."unique to the Twin Mustang, especially to the E model".
IIRC, the CAF P-82 needs propellers as well.

IIRC thay were like that when it showed up at Anoka in the late 90s.
