NMUSAF XF-90

Anyone have current pictures of the XF-90 at the NMUSAF? Have they started restoring it yet?

I have some from this June, but they're on my Dad's laptop at the moment. I'll see if I can get them later today.

I am sure that Mustangdriver will be able to give us an update on the XF-90. I heard a while back that they were going to only partially restore it as part of a "Cold War nuclear test effects exhibit." I would much rather see it restored to what it looked like when it was a flying aircraft. I know that would be quite an effort considering its condition.

It was sitting in the corner when I was there in November, didn't look like anything was being done to it at that time.

From what I have read they do not plan on restoring it, display as found. I found a bunch of photos of the recovery process and finally arrival in Dayton, but I am sure you have seen them as they are not new.

Here's the recovery and decomtamination company's site with photos of the plane in the desert while it was being cleaned and loaded for the move.

It looks like most of the skin was removed during the process. Very interesting photos.
