Introduction and Bird BK N760Y info request

Hi everyone,

By way of a short intro, I live in the Philadelphia area. My area of interest is primarily pre 1945(ish) aviation. I am an active pilot and aircraft owner who can be found haunting Trenton-Robbinsville (Posey Brothers,) Doylestown and PNE amont other places.

Does anyone have info or especially photos of Bird BK N760Y. I have recent history (some of which I have yet to follow up on) but am interested in pre 1950 info. I have seen the (Richard??) Hill book on the Birds, so I have that info. What there is of the early info indicates that the airplane has spent most of it's life in the Conn/Mass/NY/RI area.

Call the FAA in OKC and order the paperwork on the airplane by N number if still around or by serial number if no longer registered and you will get the entire story of who owned it and what maintenance was ever "recorded".

Is the airplane still around flying or being restored? If so, very possible I have photos of it taken in the last 40 years

THe airplane still exists....at least I hope so sice I just put a deposit on it. It was in the northeast US for most of life until two years ago when it went to Seattle. (Buying an open cockpit airplane on the wrong coast in the middle of the winter is a lunacy for another post :lol:

)

It appears as though it flew regularly from new until 1950 and then sat untill the 70's.

I have some info and pix from the more recent past and some leads to follow up on for the previous 30 years, but pix and "color," recent or not would add to the "fun."

The airplane comes with interesting looking documentation which, frankly, I was a little afraid of getting too deeply into because it was extremely fragile and not relevant to the condition of the aircraft for the sale. I'll be interested to take a closer look.

I assume it is a project then? I bet I have photos of it when it was flying, especially if it flew in the 1960's

It's airworthy and has been flying regularly. It won't win any awards, though.......

Stop by www.goldenageair.org we have a Bird CK flying in the museum collection which was our ride hauler until this past year.

It's a wonderful flying airplane I've had the privilege of logging a few hours in it!

Paul and I have had some discussions about this airplane. He has some first hand knowledge of it and has been very helpfull! I hope to drop by one of these days soon again, anyhow.

PS ref your tagline: I think the word "immediately" sets the bar too high, at least for me :lol:
