This is something I remember well.
People like to think that CVs are so big the water just
gets out of the way. Oh how untrue!!

Note the way the shock for the first green one hitting the bow is transmitted immediately straight to the island (bridge?).

I wonder what smart deck boss decided it'd be a good idea to put the one aircraft that absolutely had to have chain checks every couple of hours up over the one place where there's no easy access.

Second question would be - who pissed off the deck boss to do something like that. :)

They were moving all a/c aft the when Air Boss cleared the deck for obvious safety reasons.

yeah um...NO. Jack, every time I see a carrier these days I think of you and my brother. You guys can have the sea. I want the ability to dig a nice deep, non swaying, non drowning, non seasick hole I can hide in. You navy people are crazy in my book, and heroes all :) THanks for doing it so I didn't have to :)
