received an email of a new unmanned navy carrier bomber the x47-b. is it b.s.?? or the real deal?? it's supposed to go patuxant testing center in maryland for future testing. according to the info it has fabulous aerial loiter time & a good bomb load capability. it has simular lines to the b-2 stealth, but on smaller scale.

NOPE! designed from the get-go to be flown from a recliner in a low light room. No wasted space or added weight needed to support a carbon based operating unit, no overly complex com systems, no need to go look for someone if it gets whacked, just push 'game over-reset' and pickup the next one in the que-
this ties in with my post to Randy earlier in this thread

I'll quit being interested the day the last man climbs out of the last cockpit. It's not the machines that interest me. It's the men who fly them that interest me.

I simply want humans well out of the situation if stuff goes sideways, I'd much rather take the price of an unmanned vehicle over the cost (of all sorts) from losing a human being needlessly. Face it, UCAVS are coming and will begin playing a bigger and bigger role over the next few years.
Some will say that there are situations like say ACM where you will need a pilot, why? If for the cost of building one exhorbinantly priced manned vehicle (look up what the X-35 will cost per unit-big sound of air being sucked in)we can purchase three UCAVS and if we lose two to accomplish the mission, so much the better! Why do you think the Warsaw Bloc built 100 'monkey' versions of armor for every one that really had all the bells and whistles? Cost effectiveness not an inflated pituitary gland-

This has been discussed at length and It is unlikely that manned aircraft are totaly going to disappear but drones and manned aircraft are going to operate in concert together. There is some speculation that drone transmissions could be compromised and the machine could be used against the operators..
