I talked to the pilot while at ICAS. From his own mouth: Yes, he forgot to put the gear down.

Minimal damage, the Fury should be flying again in 2009 for sure. Almost no damage to the wing surfaces. I guess there is a metal hook on the front of the aircraft they used to attach the launch cable on the carriers to. It was ground down to a nub and the speed brakes took some damage. Other than that... we will see her in the air again.

At an Airsho in Harlingen, years ago, someone went around putting little stickers on planes that said "Landing with your gear up is like falling out of bed". Sort of makes sense, when you think about it!

Great to hear - Look forward to seeing one of the best and most unique jet warbirds out there in the air again soon.

there are two types of pilots those that have landed with their gear up and those who are going to some day land with their gear up. I personally haven't done it .....YET.

The airplane is now at Spirit of St Louis Airport (KSUS) being repaired. Trying to locate a set of wing flaps for the FJ.
