I am going to be in Texas over X-mas (sounds like a song), and would love to get some shots taken of the C.A.F. P-39 for my next book. Anyone on the WIX board have a good contact that might be capable of getting the airplane out on the ramp for a few minutes for that purpose? Never hurts to ask.

Thanks for any help offered.

Eric P.

If that doesn't work, I'll be back in the office on Monday and can get you in touch with them then.

Gary, that would be great, can you keep me posted on the results?

They may have the airplane apart this time of year, or be to busy to deal with me, but you never know.

Eric,

When were you planning on being in San Marcos? I'll check and see if the Airacobra will be together then and try to make arrangements for it to get put outside for you.

Mike,

I'm not sure, but the 26th through the 29th seem to be the best to aim for. What would work the best for you? Let me know what would be the best for you guys, and I will try to arrange it that way.

Thanks for your help,

Eric P.

Eric,

I'll check in the morning to see what the projected status of the P-39 will be during your target dates, and also see when someone might be at the hangar to put her on the ramp. I'll let you know as soon as I find out. Our volunteers are usually at the hangar Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, and pretty much all day Saturday. Given the holidays, I'm not sure, but if the plane is not in maintenance, I feel pretty sure we can make this photo op work out for you.

Mike

That would be great, thanks very much. I will keep checking back.

Thanks again,

Eric P.

Eric,

We should be good to go for the ramp photo op between the 26th and 29th. Let me know at my home E-mail address, "bluehawk15@aol.com", what date you will be able to make it to San Marcos, and we'll coordinate to be sure someone is there to pull her out on the ramp for you.

Mike

Ooooooo! That sounds tempting. I'll be stomping around the "Hill Country" in that time frame, I'll have to keep watch and see if I can slip away from "the family" for a photo op and Wix Meet! Just don't know my exact schedule yet. I'll be watching for updates.

Chris,

I'd really love to show you around the hangar, and the Yellow Rose too! Anytime you are going to be in the area, let me know and I'll see if I can get there myself. If not, I'll make sure someone is able to.

I'd love to, it is a matter of "Family time" being the first time in years since we've made it home for Christmas, but I am thinking that sometime in there, we WILL all be getting on each other's nerves and need to escape! PM me your Phone # and I'll do the same and we will see if we can shake some time loose! My 10yr old is a Warbird Nut too. I've trained him well! He was just asking be yesterday if we'd get to go see the USS Texas again as well. Might just have to play tourist.

I will have my 10 and 11 year old airplane nut sons with me as well, and I think we are going to see the Texas as well. We will be in Clear Lake (near Houston) and will drive to San Marcos on the way to San Antonio to see other relitives. I will set up the trip and get a firm date. Then make a post and contact.

Thanks guys,

Eric P.

Does anyone know if the Old Kingsbury Aerodrome will be open over the holidays? Or for that matter been to any events there? Seems to have popped up since I lived in Seguin.

Is that Roger Freemans place? Is that in San Antonio?
