Mike, I saw the other cuz the other night.... cuzin Brinkley! She was up north (Lancaster) having dinner with us, and about 70 others! I told Bear back at Midland, during Airsho', that his charge was going to look good, but MUCH different than before! Plus, at Airsho' I did not have any pictures, so me painting a verbal pic of the P-40 was failing miserably. Alan

As far as the crowd goes...I don't know how this was advertised. The ONLY place I heard about it was on WIX.
I have a buddy, with a WWII aeroplane nut 11 year old, that lives in Georgetown, his mom lives in Fredericksburg, and they only heard it from me.
It was not page one on the Nimitz Museum website....in fact on their events page it was listed under the USMC flamethrower photo and living history info.

As much as I hate to admit it, Ober is actually a member of my family! Very, very distant, and only by marriage (Whew!). Glad to know Karen was in good company up in Lancaster, and being kept out of trouble!!!

All the formations looked great................they had to with all the expert ground handling it would just transfer into the sky. Seriously the different types in formation were awsome. Mk.16 and Mustang, Mustang-P38-Corsair, SB2C-TBM, P-40-TBM, L-3 PT17, etc were great. Thanks especially to the secret owners who did the grass cut in the Spit and Stang.

Well they are going to have to hurry and get that decal on the P-40 so everyone will know who it belongs to. Ray Kenny and crew outdid themselves in the restoration. I just went back and saw it wasn't credited so for all that don't know that is the CAF P-40 in authentic Tex Hill markings. Don't want to hear any whining as to it's wrong. Tex himself consulted on the design.

I like it and hope someday to do some air to air of it

Mentioned that I should post some vet pics... After all, that's why most of us brought the airplanes up.
From what I could tell, the vets who did come were happy to see the planes. Below are some of their faces.
My father talking to veterans. Our family tries to talk to these men when we have the opportunity. The fellow in the AOPA hat is actually a friend of a friend of ours who flew P-51s off Iwo Jima. The AOPA hat guy flew B-24s in the South Pacific - got malaria there and ended up ferrying planes Stateside. Nice guy.
If you saw this guy in the grocery store, would you look down on him, or think of him as a possible hero to whom you owe a debt of gratitude??? It's a shame, but I think that many of my peers today would do the former. I'm thankful he came. Whoever you are sir - Thank you for your service to our country!

God Bless those bent over old men. I hope the little bit we did was as important to them as it was to us. One of the distingushed survivors there was John W. Finn the only MOH winner at PH.
