For many years we were based at Northeast Philadelphia Airport and the conditions are reminiscent of Sanford and Son. While Rich and I were able to escape, our friend Joe Scogna's Mustang, Baby Duck, is still there.

I was there last week and grabbed these shots.

Rich and I moved out in 2006 and I had to go there the other day and took these pictures. If anyone can save Baby Duck she needs to be loved. It's been sitting since 1996, properly pickled, but needs a good home.

Is it for sale or just needs storage while being worked on? What's the current overall condition?

I've got a GOOD HOME for her, how about the 1941HAG Museum at Geneseo, NY? Does Dr. Scogna wish to sell, or donate her? Why don't you give Austin or Frank Schauffler a call, maybe something can be worked out.

I can dream, can't I?

I'm not really sure what he wants to do with her. Everything is for sale, I guess. I just hate seeing her like that.

Sure would be nice to see her out and about again.
Looks like Bald Eagle in the background on the second photo.
Think these were taken in 1995.

Bill, not sure which year Baby Duck was there, I assume it was Dan Calderale who brought it. 1997 was the year that Jack Shaver brought the P-38 and they did the four-ship with the -38, a P-51, P-47, and a fourth (P-40?). Do you know if Baby Duck was in that four-ship?

Those were good shows! I still remember Bill Dodds informing us of them at Sussex in 1995. I went in 95-97, I think those were the last ones there. Too bad.

Rich

She appears to be well preserved and in safe storage there indoors, as long as parts don't grow legs when not on the airplane.

That's the 51 that Jeff Ethel used to fly sometimes. One of his books was about warbird types and I flew formation with Baby Duck, and Frenesi for the photo they used for the cover. The publisher printed the Title line over the top of the picture and it half obscured my plane. Jeff was kind of embarresed by that but it wasn't important. I wish they were both flying with us. I got pretty close to buying a Mustang a couple of times, don't have any spare millions laying around now. Jeff generously offered me a ride, but somehow we never got to do it.

Gut it and stick it on a pole in the center medium of I-95...maybe near South Of The Border, SC. After all it's just a fighter...

That's a dual-control Mustang, by the way. Very desired.
