Great news that you guys are fully in the new hangar! Hope to see more progress soon. :)

Not to take this any further off track, but I've wondered since the first time I saw the FiFi pic whether the CAF could organize two special classes for one year -

1) Unlimited Heavy (restricted to 4-engined aircraft only like the DC-6, DC-7, B377/C-97, B-17, B-24, and B-29)

2) DC-3 (restricted to only the DC-3 and its military variants)

The CAF alone could put up a full field for both, but it'd be kinda cool to see a bunch of Doug's making a few laps and then the bombers come roaring around a couple of times in an exhibition format (i.e. nothing close, mainly follow-the-leader).

Not enough ramp space at Stead, and RARA would never go for it.

Matt, Gary...
You magnificent SO and SOs...Bomber Pylon Racing!

That is EXACTLY what AIRSHO at Midland needs to perk it up.
Heavy metal Bomber Pylon Racing!!!

FiFi, SJ, TR, Ol' 927 and open it up to all comers... Collings, EAA, Liberty Belle Foundation, YAM... Even invite the Canadians to bring a Lancaster down.

Maybe have the twins (C-47s, Poons and such) do an early morning heat and save the main attraction for the afternoon.
Heck, now that gas is cheap again it shouldn't be ANY problem to get a fuel sponsor.

:ouch:

YAHOO we got "sticky'd"
Thanks WIX moderators!!!

Al... yes we are ready for visitors on Tuesdays.
It may be challenging as far as the lighting BECAUSE we don't have bulbs in most of the ceiling lights yet.
The folks renting it to us are blaming IKE.

THE PLAN...
Is to prep engine four for test runs in late Jan. and that will only happen if we start YESTERDAY.
While all the engines are all hung not a one of them is plumbed or wired up yet. But that is changing day by day.

Gotta go take another work "break".

Interesting Times we are living in!

The Maintenance crew has come up with an external oil cooler system for the engine test runs. This news was via email, and I hope to have photos for all you visually oriented WIXens after this weekend.

We hope start #4 because it is the closest to being ready to crank up, all systems considered. The plan is calling for a late Jan. crank-up but that is dependent on all kinds of folks blessing the project and blessing us with their presence and bless my soul that is a whole lotta blessing to coordinate.

Life is still a little barbaric at the new place so the 1940 Air Terminal Museum is letting us hold our Wing Mtg. there this Sat.
If you have never been there the Air Terminal is growing into quite an attraction. The tower is Art Deco and while some of the glass was blown out by the last hurricane the crew at the Museum is making inroads towards making quite a nice Commercial Aviation Historical Tribute.
If they could just that darned C-47 off the ramp in front of it it would be a right classy joint!!!
