Really cool, thanks Looks like their coming olong really good on the P-51H but I'm sure theres a lot left to be done.

The photos seem to compliment the appearance of most of the planes, particularly those outside. The museum, like many, is having $$$ problems. I've been twice over the span of a few years, and will likely wander through again before spring.

Is there a museum anywhere that has more planes wearing Thunderbirds paint? I believe I counted 6

Maybe they should paint 'em all that way! It is good to see that they have so many inside. What's the story on that B-66? Obviously a testbed for something or other...

And whats the story on that A model F-(possibly P)-86? I see it still has its gun cover doors in place.

Chanute lists it as an F-86; Baugher says it's a P-86. Baugher also lists that another P-86 is at Chanute (47-614).

The Thunderbird theme is because at one time Chanute AFB had a display depicting the aircraft of Thunderbirds. I'd forgotten all about that until I saw the pictures then the remark asking about it. I did my Aircrew Life Support technical school training at Chanute AFB in 1986. Boy time sure flies. I've got a class picture of us in front of the static F-15.

Neat to see those pictures. My wife had her drill team picture taken infront of the Hound Dog Missle (when it was outside) and her Tech School class photo infront of the Herc (when it was inside). That was back in 1989.

Those cement blocks are a little close for comfort next to the nose of the C-133 (same with the Herc...and could someone close those gear doors down...pet-peeve!).
