Went flying in a Harvard today with a buddy of mine. Dang I'm lucky these days. Never been up in one before but right after a thorough pre-flight briefing and take off, he gave me the controls to climb out at 100K to 4500 feet. We did some right and left 360 degree turns, then he demo'd some loops and barrel rolls, some aileron rolls, four pointers. Then gave me the stick for my first ever loop! That's a whole lot of pull to crank that bad boy over the top, that is compared to the Citabria!

Then did a couple stalls, one with some flaps that I promptly put into a spin. But the "instructor" saved my bacon real quickly.

So, another experience for rookie kid pilot here! 8)

By the way, he also has a Chipmunk. Anyone have a line on some main gear inner tubes? I'd like to return a favor and we were changing one out but the replacement was bad. 6.00 x6.50 with a metal valve stem coming out at about a 45 degree angle.

Thanks WIXers!

Great stuff Scott!! You couldn't be flying with a better Harvard "ace" than Vic so that's cool you got to fly the beast and see/feel how it behaves. Wish I could've been there to see you guys off especially since Saturday looked like it was shaping up to be a perfect November fly day--seasonally moderate temps, calm winds and cool skies. Hope someone took pics!! Life is good!! 8)

What is the RCAF number of this Harvard? Is it a Mark IV RCAF 20217? I have a couple of pictures of "217" south of Edmonton in the mid 80's. I believe it is in Wisconsin now.

Paul, no photo ops this time. Too bad but really impromptu and I have the images well locked in. 8)

Tienmac, I was a bit pre-occupied but I believe this is the Harvard of which you speak. Can you post the photos you have? I'll see that Vic gets them.

Thanks,
