Many of you might remember the story about me being too late to save an old D-Day veteran C-47 from the scrap dealer, but able to save the nose section from it. (If not, you can scroll down on this page and read about it here... http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/p ... 592#100592 )

The nose section eventually made it's way to a great home. Fellow WIXer, Questmaster, purchased the nose from me, as it is the VERY ONE that his grandfather jumped from on D-Day. He's currently restoring it and even though I wasn't able to save the entire airplane, I felt good that at least part of it is going to spend the rest of it's life telling a great story.

Anyway, I was finally able to obtain the props from that same airplane just a couple of weeks ago while I was on a "mission" to gather up some other various parts and pieces. They, too, weren't far from being sent to the scrap dealer, so even though they don't necessarily have the significance that the nose section did, I was equally glad to keep them from turning into beer cans. They're rough, but I think they'll clean up just fine and will look good in a museum somewhere someday.

Glad to see you were able to save a few more pieces of the C-47.

The fact that Questmaster's grandfather jumped from it is such a wild story...

Owen,

Here is a link to Questmaster's C-47 information. http://www.questmasters.us/C-47A_43-15137.html

If you Google "C-47 43-15137" you can also find some of her history. Here is a link that shows the manifest of this very airplane for Operation Market Garden: http://users.telenet.be/101airborne/101st.htm The document is about halfway down the page.

Yup, you're right. I can't believe I've been telling that story wrong all this time. It wasn't Questmaster's grandfather, but still a neat story. Sorry for the misinformation there, it wasn't my intention.
