Though this isn't as eggciting as the arrival of a Privateer at Chino.
I ran across this former US Forest Service Gooney Bird Douglas
R4D-6Q BuNo 50814 N48211, in Birmingham Alabama and thought
that since I didn't see this one listed in the Warbird Registry that
I'd flash her here. Of Interest to me, is the engine Cowlings, these
really come down over the face of the engine. never seen these on a
DC-3/C-47/Gooney Bird before. Maybe of interest to Tulsaboy?

The cowls were a post war mod offered by, I believe either Dee Howard or Hayes, they usually came along with main wheel cover doors and offered some fractional increase in speed- 8)
