Awesome pics. I can't wait until the new building is up, and these are on display.

Neat pictures! Whats the restoration status of the B-29?

Someone had some pics of the inside, and I thought I remember it looking really nice inside.

I posted some for another WIXer a year or so ago but I was wonder what the curret restoration effort is i.e. what's remaining to be done...?

Both a/c look great but my question is with all the outstanding B-29 nose art why pick the ugliest marking it ever carried :? :?:

Wed Nov 26, 2008 6:39 pm

Yeah I know. I wonder if it is it's actual nose art? I love the B-17 restoration, I just wish they could add a few inches to the O.D. to make it a little more accurate.

I'll have to check my "stuff" but I think T Square 54 were the markings this B-29 carried in combat. These were the actual markings of this particular plane...

I'm just glad they are out of the rain...

Oh yeah me too.

I'm glad they're out of the rain too....

I remember when this B-17 was parked outside on the ramp at the
Renton (KRNT) airport (was kinda sad to see it completely
gone through, and then parked outside!).

I think it's neat that this B-17 is currently parked in the same building
she was built in... Those huge doors just to the right of the B-17 nose
in the 1st shot is what were opened when the aircraft were originally
rolled out & towed across the street to Boeing Field.

In WW-II, this particular building was all "open" inside (one huge
factory area). It has since been "sectioned" with fire walls (the
building codes have no doubt changed over the years...).

I hear/tell the turrets on the B-29 are being restored to working
condition (the volunteer team is going through the trouble of
sourcing all the electrical bits and seeing to it that everything
works!).

When I was a kid I got to ride along when Bob taxied the 17 from the east side to the west side of BFI. I was at the MOF restoration shop a few weeks back using there do all after hours and was looking at the nose cowl for the 29 and all I can say is WOW! There are so many brackets and frames on that thing it must weigh 1000 lbs!?

We are very lucky! But there are better collections else-where!

Cool if thats actually her markings. My dad has a B-29 book that has these markings on it. I had always thought that it was because a unit commander did not like nude women on the airplane so they painted them with that marking. But that was a long time ago and I am not sure. Anyways, when I built models as a Kid I built the monogram B-29 and it looked just like that when I was done......................sorry jack, I like it!!
