I love the full-scale Skyraider, and as one who spent hours building models as a kid, that model just totally impresses me.

I do, however, have one concern - should the RC pilot lose control (and don't tell me it won't happen) at 200 lbs pounds and speeds of 30+mph (?) there is the potential for damage or major injury to bystanders.

Just my $0.02

Should the pilot of a real Skyraider lose control at 180kts and around 7 tons, there is also the potential for major damage and major injury.

Well, yeah ...

I think Dave Downs' point was this: what if any are the liability concerns with these models in the "very large model" R/C community? I honestly don't know - like Dave I'm simply wondering. Do these modelers have (or need?) any sort of coverage for damage to persons or property inside or outside of the park perimeter (that HUGE turbine B-52 model could have taken out a friggin' house!)?

Over to the legal and insurance experts -

Wade

Agreed - but without data to back it up, I'd be willing to bet that incidences of loss of control of RC aircraft in any flight regime far exceeds that of those with the pilot residing IN the airplane (Military drones excepted)
