My daughter and I went and checked out the ship today. Figured somebody might like to see the Kingfisher pictures.

I'm so glad that such a rare aircraft is being preserved out in the open air amongst highly corrosive salt air. Why don't they put a fiberglass replica there and put the real one inside a building adjacent to the battleship?

good point, i'll bet owen miller could add his 2 cents, as he is active w/ the uss alabama & aviation museum located in mobile alabama called battleship park. they have an os2u inside their museum. 1st class facility. btw....... the uss carolina's kingfisher had oversized temporary wing pontoons for many years. glad they found or fabricated new ones as the temps certainly did not do it justice & looked rather dumb.

Cool pics, just don't see the Kingfisher often enough. The Alabama Museum got smacked pretty hard by a hurricane a couple years ago. Any updates on their recovery?

katrina laid waste to the place. i saw pictures of the damage in the gift shop. it's now cleaned up & a 1st class museum to say the least.

I believe that is the plan. I was there a year ago, and saw a drawing for what they want to do.

Owen miller showed me around their place. It is awesome, and a first class place. They have the nicest PBR riverboat I have ever seen. The USS North Carolina is a really great place as well.

Very cool, not the kind of thing you see every day.

Very nice pics of the big ol battlewagon. She looks to be in very good shape. Last time I was on the Texas, she was looking a bit ragged, though they have thrown a few million at her since then. If I recall, they did NOT have any aircraft aboard her. So if they make a nice replica for this one, perhaps a few more are in order. Do they have any float planes on the Alabama?

Question. Are there any SC-1 Seahawks left anywhere? Always thought that was a cool looking float plane. Very brief service!

there is not enough Kingfishers in the world. :(

Another planned project of mine if I ever win the lotto. :?
