WWII Film discovered.

I believe this was discovered in someone's attic.

On the left, scroll down in the video section and click on Raw Film of WWII Combat.

Gun camera film starts about the 10:00 minute mark.

Cool stuff!! It would be interesting to know if there is any more of that footage. I imagine the guy ran that in the photo labs where he was stationed.
Enjoyed the 'every day' stuff that you rarely get to see. I'm also curious about the razorback Jug fuselage in the back of that 6X6

i saw it on the news a few days ago. it's a miracle that the film survived that long undeveloped that it still could be processed. it must have been stored in unknowingly perfect storage conditions.

Sometimes I wonder if these are really newly found films or films found by someone...Every year the newly found in a footlocker undeveloped roll of film of never before seen Pearl Harbor photos are sent around. This film is even marked Library Of Congress at the beginning. The National Archives and Library of Congress have millions of feet of World war II film....doesn't really matter and its a good film....

i feel msnbc is about as reliable of a news source as it gets, they aren't the national enquirer. they do their homework before they release a story. it's legit i'm sure.

OBVIOUSLY, the comment was just sarcasm about the reliablilty of MSNBC. :twisted:

Politics aside - I'd like to watch the film, but all I get from the link is a blank (black) screen with the MSN logo in the upper right......?????

I spotted the film a few days ago and watched it all the way through. Excellent footage, including the extended P-51D in-flight shots with the gear extended.

An excellent study of the wartime details.

The most intriguing part to me was the personal shots of the various nameless soldiers. The fact that it's a silent film makes it all the more haunting. All those guys have family, and many are probably still alive themselves. Kind of sad thinking about how they or their loved ones might not see the film and make the connection. That's why I think it's immensely important to disseminate this kind of stuff as broadly as possible.

There's plenty of gun camera film on youtube and other sites.
There's film from both sides too, English "rhubarbs", Luftwaffe fighters going after B17s and B24s, have a bit of a search
