Hi folks,
With all the interest in the above Shoestring rebirth, I thought you all might like to see another one being born. I've been building it from scratch, not with the idea of racing it someday, but just because I've always loved the lines...

The Shoestring was a sleek little Goodyear Racer. I had a balsa model of the Shoestring that I loved. Flew well. However I cannot remember all the details but somehow the fuselage got crushed accidentally. It was a really neat model that had a balsa covered fuselage...not stick and tissue.

Hello people!

After lurking here for a while I have just joined up and can now post. It is nice to see new Shoestrings being still built! Gary is doing a fantastic job on his. Now I see others are building too!

I built and fly the only Shoestring in Canada. Seeing Gary's pics certainly takes me back a few years indeed. Unfortunately I took only a few pics of mine over the years, as progress was kind of like watching a clock move. I was building for 13 years before the first flight, and it still is not done yet!

Before I first flew mine in '93, I visited Ralph Moore in Florida to see another Shoestring and discuss tips for first flight. I also phoned Ray Cote a few times back then too. I subsequently visited Mr Cote at his home when he had "Alley Cat" and picked his brain for a few hrs regarding his 'String and "improvements" to make.

If one is working from only Landis Ketner's drawings (Condor Aero) there are a couple of areas of concern (that both Ralph Moore and I experienced on our first flight) that should be addressed before first flight.

I have sent a couple of pics of my machine that were taken back in '96 to Gary to post for me.
