Belgianna Jones? I don't think so.

But you and Chris Brame are the closest so far.

It's help if you are young at heart and like small, white, fluffy dogs.

They were in 633 Squadron or Mosquito Squadron?

Nope. As warm as our other two 'literate' guesses though.

Clue 6: Can anyone list famous Belgians?

Hercule Poirot by chance? In his series - I do remember a couple being in them. Just a guess based on those last hints.

You are closer, using 'ze leedle grey cells'.

However this Belgian is real, not fictional, although the answers are fictional, not real, while the aircraft are real, these ones are fictional...

Confused? You will be!

Hmm...so it is a real Belgian author with fictional answers and fictional aircraft as I read your hint - correct? Sorry, I'm not up on my Belgian fictional aviation authors and I don't think Ernie Gann was Belgian!

Oh, by the Fairchild F-24 do you mean the Fairchild Model 24, i.e. UC-61/J2K/Argus or another designation/model?

Randy

P.S. If you haven't read Fate is the Hunter you should if you are a pilot. My 2 cents.

Correct.

Who said 'aviation' author? Or indeed 'author'? He's more famous (and popular) as an artist than the 'other' Belgian artist, Magritte. I'd be most surprised if you'd not heard of this guy's alias, or his hero.

Gan's not Belgian I agree! Sure he's great, but this guy's better known.

Fairchild Model 24 with the radial engine - this one's a sinister civilian.

Cheers,

JDK - while I own a fair amount of aviation art, I am really not familiar with the Beglian aviation artist (?) in question or I simply don't realize that he is Belgian, I'm afraid. Or I'm just too tired to get it.

A long time ago I tried to buy a Fairchild Model 24W with the Warner Super Scarab engine (same that was later on my Dr.I) but the owner couldn't get it to start so I moved on and later bought a Pitts S-2A as my first owned tailwheel aircraft. I currently fly a Fairchild Model 24R with the Ranger engine as part of the High Sky Wing of the CAF. Hopefully my guesses will help others solve your quiz. It has been a long day here and another one tomorrow and Saturday in CAF meetings but I'll check back one more time before passing out and again in the morning. Fly safe, y'all and best of luck on the quiz.

Randy

Hey, you've done the best, Randy. Drop the 'aviation' bit would help. ;)

I guess that as a Texan, and for seven years an Alaskan, and not otherwise overly worldly, I'm just not getting it :) . I've dropped the aviation from artist but it hasn't helped so I'm going to bed and see if I have any better thoughts in the morning. I've enjoyed the challenge and look forward to the answer - but I'm not holding my breath! Being on different sides of the globe, I hope you have a great day or whatever it is there. All the best.

Randy

Correct!

But that's not the answer to the first question, or the second set. ;) Go on, get 100%. Red place and black place...
