go and check out the anti- obama rants on the aero vintage website if you dare. i thought that we were all way past this crap but i guess i was wrong. just for the record, i'n not a liberal and i do think that a black president is a little wierd, but one particular posting and the response of the moderator really says it all.

...and we are dragging another sites dirty laundry to this site for what reason? Also, not so sure about your comment about the president being black as "a little wierd." I think that is a very strange comment to make.

I think that the point Bill's trying to make is that some folks (but certainly not all) have a greater tendancy to make a personal attack or a inflammitory post if they're able to hide behind a false indenity.

Well, lets just see if we can get this thread locked up and be done with the whole thing and move on. America is the land of equal opportunity...lets just fly it and watch it 8)

And to add another comment about Bill's gripe about "alias" names....I signed up as retroaviation because my business name at the time of signing up was (and still is) Retro Aviation & Airshows, Inc. I'm not a successful businessman, but I do still retain the company and such. However, as you know, it's not very hard to figure out who most folks are, if you just try hard enough.

BDK. , I didn't single you out even though you use a screen name. You, in my opinion are, within bounds in your comments, just another common starboard wingnut. like a lot of guys on WIX. Nothing wrong with you that a few short years in our "CAN YOU SEE THE LIGHT NOW?" Reeducation Camp won't cure. Have your bags packed and be ready to go anytime after Jan. 20, we'll send a car for you. And a T-6 guy can't be all bad, even one with no ears.

Seriously, the comments on the other site seem to be outside the grounds that most of us operate under, not just the crazy exaggerated restrictions he talks about, but the threat at the end.

Other guys like Gary, aka Retro use an alias but their own name at the bottom.

I think you are right.
If you are going to call someone on their beliefs, you should have the guts to write your name.
The only reason I use Bluedharma is because
1.) The "boogeyman" is out there...waiting to sign checks for me in Nigeria.
2.) "Google" never forgets. (even when Wixers do)
3.) "Paul" does not sound as cool (too many Paul’s on WIX).

Best Regards,
Paul...

I'd like to step in and remind everyone that Scott still hosts a great and informative site and forum. The offender is gone and I would hate to see the baby thrown out with the bathwater.

Please no one take this the wrong way. But one of the reasons why my forum posters used real names was because it made it easier to remember the person. I still don't know 85% of the posters real names on WIX. Even though some do finish there post with their name. I guess thats why they made avatars. :)

Cheers,
Nathan

I don't visit the aerovintage forum very much but happened to last night for the first time in a while. I happened to see the post in question and a couple of replies to same. About an hour later this wix post appeared so I knew immediately what it referred to.

I think the reason it got posted here was that the replies to the 'racial' post were deleted but the post itself was not, as if it were being condoned by the moderator of that site. Well I realize now that was not the case as he himself explained after he deleted it.

It really was so over the top that it was hard to believe. I think the poster will be lucky if he is not visited by the Secret Service at some point, it was that awful.

Nuff said.

As the owner and moderator of the Aero Vintage forum, I'm sorry to say that I did not pay enough attention the first time around to what had been posted and I'm embarrassed this all happened on my site. The individual who posted has had other posts deleted in the past and I thought we had a bit of an underestanding but I found out we did not.

The lesson I learned is that in the future I won't tolerate these diversions from the subject at hand, which is old airplanes. These guys who need to make off-topic comments can do it elsewhere. For those who visit my site, please don't stop because of this episode.
