Sorry USS Carl Vinson is CVN-70. We are about to send CVN-77 George H.W. Bush to sea next month for Builder's and Acceptance Trials.

I know it is late but it is my turn to say THANK YOU to all the vets out there.
To me, having served your country qualifies as a veteran.
I had a wonderful day spent with my grandfather........................
<------------------------------see picture.

Oh yeah, here's a laugh for you...
Cadet 4th Class (1998-1999)
USMA, Class of 2002, West Point, NY

Here I thought a 5 year commitment after 4 years of paid education was a long time....young, dumb and full of...nevermind.

No, I dont consider myself a veteran or think that I served my country  . It is an aweful regret I carry with myself every day.

Thanks again to all Veterans...and to all of you WIXers
Regards,
Mark

I'm not a veteran but my father is and he reads here...

Don Gorman USMC 1946-48
VMF-225
F4U-4 Prop guy
CVE-112 USS Siboney

He told me a story about going to a Veteran's Day parade in 1938 or so (when he was 10). It was in Detroit, and among the veterans who were being honored that day were soldiers from WWI as well as Spanish-American War vets. There was also a small group of CIVIL WAR vets who had to be in their 90's by that point (nearly 75 years after the end of the war).

He remarked on how amazing it was to have seen living, breathing vets from that war in HIS lifetime and the impact that it had on him. He also imagined that, perhaps, those Civil War veterans themselves might have seen vets from the Revolutionary War when they were only 10 years old! The same thing, of course, played out today. Young boys looking at old men and imagining...

Thanks to all of our veterans.
