This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Looks like a pull test on the main landing gear doors. Checking for structural integritty. They are simulating the effects of the wind pulling the doors open in flight.

Those displayes of the electrics, landing gear, and fuel systems are absolutely phenomenal. Beats and technical manual drawing I've ever seen.
I'd love to see a display like
that at the local air museum!

Armyjunk, I have finally dried enough of the drool from my keyboard to say THANKS !
These are truly a treasure trove for those of us too far away to visit the Museums that hold them.
This is the ONLY way most of us would EVER have had chance to see them.
We all owe our deepest debt of gratitude to Leo and you for first gathering and then posting these images.
Thank You.

Pic 2282 shows the Grumman corporate Bearcat (overall dark red with black trim) and the F9F-8T which for many years was bailed to Grumman for flight test work at the Peconic River facility. The Bearcat was originally assigned to Roger Kahn [http://www.blueangels.org/History/Scheuer/Kahn.html].
The corporate Widgeon and H-55 were also painted in the red-black scheme. There is a story that whenever Leroy Grumman was asked how a new corporate aircraft should be painted he replied "paint it any color you wish so long as it is red and black".
Thanks again AJ; keep 'em coming!!!

2304 and 2305 are the Emerson X17A gun turret. It was to include radar ranging and fire control. Here is the gun sight. No need to pull lead. However, the electronics required turned out to be a bit too bulky to be carried by a single-engine jet fighter...

Hey Junk,
Great series of photos. Thanks
