so its pretty safe to say that anything in those lakes has turned to crustacian corroded mess eah? All the skins by now would need replacement completely and any other surface exposed..Does anybody have any pictures of any craft that have been recently recovered? I'm just wondering if all the birds in those lakes are junk by now...good topic...
every solid surface, cut & dry, with even plastic can support those things. they are near indestructable..... under water

I would imagine that even an aircraft covered in Zebra muscles would still prove to be a much better candidate for recovery than one in the ocean covered in coral.

I've been diving on aircraft that were quite encrusted in large coral growths. It never appeared to me that the coral was the source of much, if any damage. Keep in mind that these aircraft were submerged in salt water where the weakening effects of corrosion are much more severe.

I would consider Zebra muscles to be a nuisance in a recovery / restoration attempt, but by no means a prohibiting factor. These aircraft should still be considered prime candidates.

With that in mind I propose we assemble a team to prove my theory.

Someone distract the Navy.
