Neat...the Fifi takeoff video on the main page was shot on her visit to Kalamazoo in 2000..I recognize the background. They were doing crew checkouts, and we got to see her make a dozen or so takeoffs and landings.

Just a few shots from the B-29/B-24 Squadron Meeting on 9-25-08, Wednesday night, right after Airsho'. Dave Miller, our new Sqdn Crew Chief, is doing his best Karaoke song of the night. 8)

So, instead of getting the big hook from stage right, he just gets gobbled up by the P-40! :shock: :shock:

This is the #3 engine for Ol' 927. I was at Jeff's place Thursday and it's about ready for the test stand.

Dang it Dave.... that engine looks too clean and purty to hang on an airplane! However, if it must be.... lets "get 'er done!" Alan

If that engine wasn't going on the B-24, I'd mount it above my fireplace.
I just hope it runs as good as it looks!! It really should, Jeff's put in alot of time and effort to get it right.

Hey Guys and Girls!!! The new engine shown above has run about 4 hours in the test cell..... One of our pilots was out, watching the run in the test cell, commenting about how clean the engine ran and had no oil dripping AFTER it had been shut down.... "Needle", here from Wix, asked the question at the B-29/B-24 Squadron meeting last night (11/19)... "We are talking about a radial?" Needle, my apologies for the poor paraphrasing! Always good to see you..... The B-29/B-24 Squadron Maintenance Meeting is this Saturday 11/22/08 at hangar #4, Cavanaugh Flight Museum at 1200hrs. With every squadron meeting (so far) here at Addison, we have had at least 1-2 visitors who have become CAF & B-29/B-24 Squadron Members. Two more airline pilots and two more A/P. Great people, but we also need YOU!.... This squadron is growing and having fun.... Mr Cavanaugh's place just makes you want to join in and do something! Thanks to Doug, Steve, and Julian. I will add a few pics later...... Alan

Just got off the phone with Alan, and the new engine arrived at Cavanaugh yesterday :D :D Hopefully Alan will post a picture in the near future (HINT HINT)

Now just a matter of pulling the other one, putting the new one on, and the rest of the winter mx

Trying to have her done in early Spring to hit the road!

Ol’ 927;
The Lib is down for winter maintenance and the #3, replacement engine is ready! We had a very good meeting (15 in attendance) with the Addison area folks and I am very happy we have such a talented group of volunteers that are eager to get started. Don Obreiter and Erich Roeder are heading up this effort. Some additions were talked about during this maintenance season such as; installing the radios at the radio operator’s station. This will change the seating somewhat but no big deal. There also may be an oxygen panel installed somewhere and some walk around oxygen bottles placed near crew positions as they would have been. Other improvements are a better nav/com setup, intercom, pilot/co-pilot seats and armrest recovered, sliding cockpit windows replaced, installing the engine preoilers on each engine, getting some more of the interior painted plus getting a spare tire and brake built up. The guys at Addison have been super about giving us the space we need for parts, tools, work stands, shelving and our work bench. Work will probably begin this weekend and continue thru February. Our target date to have the airplane ready for pilot/flight engineer training is February 15th and ready for events and rides March 1st.

Wishing you all a safe a happy holiday season and Merry Christmas!

Probably not a priority with all the engine drama, but any discussion on the bomb bay doors project?

That's something we talked about but have decided to wait on that for now. I would really like to be there for that and as it is now I'm in Midland with FIFI and Ol' 927 is in Addison! I believe we will get it done but not until I can have both our girls back together and I'm up there full time.
