WacoYKC, could you id. the aircraft for me? I recognize about half of them. A couple look like Wacos.
Who painted that psychedilic 195? Fender Guitars? lol
Do you have anything on the green Tiger Moth? Do you have a photo that shows the color underneath? Sky blue maybe?
Doug

Just getting around to checking in, that is one wild Cessna 195 paint job!

I have a photo on my garage wall from a 1984 vintage airplane calendar that I found in my parents storeroom recently while helping them clean it out. I think I gave it to my dad back in the day.
It's a red/white Taperwing NC7527, the .....Livingston Special. There's one pic of it an a.net from this August in the EAA museum.
Fill me in a bit on the aircraft's history. I know y'all can do that.
Doug

That was the airplane flown by Johnny Livingston to win the Sid Grauman Trophy Race in the 1928 Transcontinental Air Derby from New York to Los Angeles. This was a 2,539 mile race and three Wacos participated, all special racing Taperwings. The other two were flown by John P. Wood who placed third and Charlie Meyers, who placed fifth. The airplane went on to be heavily modified in the late 1930's to the configuration you see now. It was owned by a number of aerobatic pilots and was painted all white with either red or blue trim. It was restored again in the early 70's by Dave Jameson of Oshkosh. It then passed thru a couple more owners until being rebuilt to its current livery by Ernie Moser of St. Augustine, FL and then donated to the EAA.

In the calendar photo I refer to, it's in the same red w/white trim that it wears now.
