Bill,
I havent seen any numbers yet but there were lots of people. I was going back and forth from the B-17, Ride tent & PX and the crowds were thick! Saturdays attendance seemed to be higher than Sunday.

Wish I had bought more than the two buckles, but at the time, I was a college student. Army surplus store in Seguin (don't bother looking for it, think it closed in about 1982!), you know, that little bump in the road between San Antonio and Houston!

You mean Hinton? If that's what you mean I wish I'd known... I asked them about what suggestions they'd have for a wannabe in my shoes. Mr. Hinton mentioned that he started out in an L-5 that he apparently still has!

Parking lot probably looked thinbecause they also parked a ton of cars on the south ramp just north of NASA. Cars were also parked offsite due to the show organizers pushing the park and ride. I saw taxiway Kilo ( new taxiway ) covered with inbound people well into the afternoon. We were down by the South entrance and there was a steady flow of inbound folks coming off of the shuttle buses.

The airborne shots that show the parking lots perhaps 20 % full may have been made in the morning before most folks got there.

Good stuff! It was an exceptional weekend for early morning light photos on the flightline.

It was a great airshow but the show stopper for me was Friday when Ol 927 arrived and made a low fly by. To say that I was impressed would be quite an understatement. Good job, CAF!

Geez, I missed a meeting a bunch of friends. I was doing p.r. at the Dauntless and stayed engrossed in that.-good photo SCFan. But I'm glad you didn't get me stuck in the gunner's seat. It wasnt' made for gunners over six feet!
Bill, the airborne photos were late in the day after the show had closed when LS was doing rides.
I agree with Elroy 13 that Saturday's attendance was greater.
Sunday, I had a lot of people come by and ask if the SBD was a Hellcat, but by quittin time Saturday I was ready to whack the next joker who came up and asked "Isn't that what George 41 was shot down in?"
For Lone Star, it was kind of a homecoming. We all needed a fun weekend away from smelly rubbish and disheartening destruction. Even though we have come a long way. We have all the planes that flew out back in the Houston area now, too.

You'd think with all our modern equipment, the Japanese couldn't catch F-16s on the ground for a sneak attack... :wink:

Now I can't understand why they had the Mustang chase the Zero around - even though a P-40 took off at the same time in a formation takeoff. :huh:
