Keep hearing rumors about the new P-51's in flight

Any news or photos on the P-51B/C's "OLD CROW" & "IMPATIENT VIRGIN" in flight together? I thought I heard that Oshkosh had a photo shoot .... And magazine's with photos out yet? Haven't had a chance to check up on my mag editions yet ...

Interestingly, the only photo I have seen so-far from this photo-shoot is in the most recent Flying magazine.

Photo's in current EAA Warbirds of America Magazine...just came this week.

Classic Wings has a center spread of the two together, it is out next week.

They were several photo shoot of the two together. At least two photo flights, one for EAA, one for a duet of photographer + One single photographer (me :-)

I've heard a few WIXers have mentioned the two Mustangs have completely different designed and installed "malcolm" (or close to "malcolm") hoods. Is that a fact? ... Of the two, which one is more accurate? .... Flame on .... :crispy:

I thouoght I had heard I.V was more accurate having the plexi framing on the front and back while O.C. has metal. I'm no expert here but I can toss up some pics for the discussion.

... Does one "hood" look more round that the other? I'm looking at your photos "spookycat" and for some reason it looks that way .... anyone? .. who cares,... care to add feedback?

I wish I had better similar shots but I thought it looked like I.V. had a little more bubble to her.

The first photo posted by Spookythecat is the same photo that I mentioned is in Flying magazine, so there you have it.

After checking out both examples, the Malcolm hood installation is almost completely different between Old Crow and Impatient Virgin, down to even the mechanisms to open and close the canopy. Pacific Fighters managed to have an original right-hand portion of the Malcolm hood assembly, un-earthed in England, which included the crank and sprockets for which they copied and through plenty of research I am sure, got it exactly how the Malcolm hood assemblies looked and functioned in WWII. Even the primer used on the interior Malcolm hood parts in Impatient Virgin is RAF interior green, which I thought was a pretty cool detail. Like the original Malcolm hood installation, it is rather crude when compared to factory installed sliding canopies.

If anyone is interested, here are some detail shots I took of some of the finer details of the Malcolm hood installation for a project I was working on over the summer.
