Anyone have info on this Seventh Squadron P-51 Poster?

Thu Oct 16, 2008 6:33 pm

I acquired this poster recently and was told it is somewhat rare.
Anyone have information on the poster or the artist behind it or the 7th Squadron in general?

Each plane is piloted by one of the Seven Dwarfs.

Capt. Grumpy is piloting "Pissed Off".
Lt. Sleepy is flying "Snoozin'".
Maj. Doc is flying "House Calls".
Lt. Happy is flying "Have A Nice Day".
Lt. Sneezy is flying "Hay Fever".
Lt. Bashful is flying "Shy Guy".
Lt. Dopy is flying "Snow".

My favorite feature is Dopey flying with his exhaust plugs still in. Image Image

With a quick search, I did find an identical poster on eBay for about $20.
So, I guess it can't be that valuable. What do you guys think? Image

That is pretty cool. I like the exhaust plugs on Dopy's AC. THAT is funny, can't tell if his rudder lock is in place since the tail is off the print!! His kill marking are interesting as well!

I wonder if Disney knows about it?

Yeah, I noticed that too.
Makes you wonder which team he is flying for. Image Image

Anyways, I just went to Wal-Mart and picked up a cheapo $10 picture frame.
Nothing fancy, but I think it will work. :D

Did Dwight say this is proper approved Office decor?

Cool poster! Way more unique than what is usually out there. I just scored a "Flight of Noah's Ark" movie poster off ebay that needs to get framed. Wallmart, here I come!

Found an interesting site with more "Toons at War" warbonds, instructional stuff, Nose Art, Unit insignia and such. Lots of pics and history

Neat poster - a suggestion if I may for making it look a lot better in that frame: take it to a professional framer and ask them to "dry-mount" the poster. This process is like "ironing" the poster to a stiff archival board using archival "glue" - this is done in a large press. ALL wrinkles will disappear and you'll be surprised at the results.

Any damage to the surface of the paper will of course remain, but the bends and wrinkles will disappear and it will be FLAT, and much more attractive. Not expensive, either! They may try to sell you a 'better' frame, but that's up to you. 8)

Make that 28 Jack.
Got one on the way, might even hang it in the 2 year old's bedroom, she already knows all the dwarf's names!!!
Happy bidding

If you like WWII Disney insignias, you guys need to pick up the book:

Disney Dons Dogtags: The Best of Disney Military Insignia from World War II

I have a copy of it. Very cool book. Unfortunately it's out of print & pretty expensive. One on ebay for $85, and a few on half.com starting at $50.

Aww, yes. Good ole Dwight.
He keeps a watchful eye over everything that happens on my desk. :D :D

Did you see last night episode?

Michael: "Eww, what is that!?"
Dwight: "Butter. Newborns are slippery."
