Any word on how the restoration is going on the B-29 at the Strategic Air & Space Museum? Haven't heard anything in awhile...

I didn't say anything earlier because I don't know the exact status, but here is how it looked on September 12, 2008:

At least, it's under cover. Not like DOC that's being left out in another beautiful Kansas Winter thanks to SPIRIT who bought, and now owns the former Boeing fabrication division. So, if it was a CF-105 would you be leaving it out in the weather EH?

The interior looks good! I just hope they don't paint the exterior. It's stripped, that's half the battle...

the plan is to paint the exterior due to many factors, its is by no means anyones real desire but due to exterior issues among other things, thats the plan. it will be restored to its last military asignment including orange accents as it used to look, Ive seen pictures but dont personally have them. the interior is coming along, they stripped the whole interior and are going over it piece by piece. engines have been cosmetically restored

What does Spirit have to do with Doc being outside, it was on the military side of the plant still owned by boeing.

The interior is looking fantastic! I wish they would reconsider leaving the exterior unpainted. Look at what the Pima Air & Space Museum did with their B-29. I believe that was done with volunteers, some from the base, doing "polishing parties" over a period of years. It looks great now. I think the NEAM had a company come in a polish their B-29 - $$. Duxford's was polished by hand, over time. Just a thought...

it was considered, but due to condition of skin and the amount of time involved to polish from current condition, the current decision was made
