If it was a later -4 factory fresh dark blue.

If I had a -1A or an FG-1, I think I'd first paint it as the prototype for a few years, just because it would looking really cool! Maybe add a birdcage to it for the same time period.

Na' na', after you convert it to TF-F4U-1 dull control version, then you can put it in the ole' silver and yellow! Then sell rides to make some money back. 8) Maybe?

Kenlyco, that's it! What a beauty the F4U-7. I think the reason it looks so good is that it diesn't have the checkerboard on the tail. Provbably the wrong shade of blue too.
Another real beauty that achieved "dream" status was the FG-1d that was owned by Dennis Bradley/ CWH and painted in Canadian Navy colors of a Victoria Cross winner. It always had throngs of admirers around it. Only two colors; Blue and white on it's scheme.

I have to admit, the Bunker Hill Corsairs looked pretty sexy with that yellow cowl ring and the arrows. If I had a -1D, that's probably how I would paint it. If I had a -5, it would have to be an all-black night fighter, somewhat like the one at the Flying Leathernecks Museum http://www.flyingleathernecks.org/photos270/f4ucorsairlarge.jpg

I'd have mine painted exactly like the Air Zoo Corsair:

Michael Potter now has his FG1D marked (decals) as this aircraft:
Check out some nice photos of it on Eric's site:

Mike you are a sick bastard! Why would you want to paint that. NMF is the only thing to do to that.

Whittington's Corsair was nice looking and the Pic's Doug Fisher took are some of the best.
