The main winding was of the normal lotus-o deltoid type placed in panendermic semi-bolloid slots of the stator. Moreover, whenever fluorescent square motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with the drawn reciprocation dingle arm, to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.

I believe the salvage rights are granted/revoked by the Danish Government. The last I heard was that they were not impressed with the environmental impact of the recovery attempt and won't let anyone recover it.

As mentioned earlier the loan aspect would be an interesting issue... If you recovered the aircraft you wouldn't want to have to give bits away for free. But if the people wanted the bits back bad enough,surely they would have gone and got them already seeing as its been 16 years?

As neat (and tragic) as the Kee Bird story is, you've got B-29's sitting around the country rotting on outdoor display. There are even a couple in storage in California and one that's been for sale for several years. DOC's restoration to flying status has slowed to a virtual halt. So..."we" should go up to Greenland and recover a burned out mess? It we be cool to go take pictures of it, but I doubt there's much worth bringing home at this point even if the Danish Gov't would allow it...

Going on environmental cleanup work at both poles nowadays, I'd suggest that's one to watch - sooner or later, they may well be disposing of the toxic waste item themselves...

As APG's pointed out, there's plenty of deserving causes closer to home. Wreck hunting's very romantic, but it still only represents the entry cost - the real challenge is often what happens next.

It will remain the 'so near and yet...' story of warbird recovery though!

If he had the money, he probably would have gone to get them instead of just looking at the paper he was given by the Kee Bird team saying that yes the prop was his!

He is now in his 70's, and retired ANG mech. He started with them when they were flying thunderbolts and recently retired while with F-16's. His only interest is Hamilton Standard Props!!!! If you could see his basement!!! I do plan on going to visit him soon to see a recent aquisition. He did some wheeling and dealing with a local DC-3 owner who has money to do his AD's and in turn, the DC-3 owner would buy him a prop that was for sale that he had is eye out for a long time and the prop shop was being sold off and the owner going into retirement. So he did the AD's and in turn he got his New Old stock B-25 prop still wrapped up and crated from WW2.

I dont know about you, but when an average guy gets screwed out of $28,000 (the Hamilton Standard apprasial) back then. Such a inocent person who just wanted to help out..................it just sucks!

You know what crossed my mind when I first saw this pic ?

We all have dreams......

Some folks by their nature try harder to obtain them than others & most in general.

I will and cannot pass any judgment on the right or wrong of the motive. I dully understand them. We are of the same breed after all.

I may question the methods or technique used......and the results obtained.

But in the end, it was their dream & guts that made an impression. Not the results....
